Shift from Dreamweaver to Wordpress
By Raymond on Mar 1, 2009 in Efficient life
Dear all,
I have spent a few days to learn Wordpress and now I am able to apply it to my website. The purpose is obvious: Efficiency.
The switch to Wordpress is a win-win situation for me and for my readers. When I used Dreamweaver to update the website, it cost me around 15min each time to deal with the essay format, upload the new files via FTP, and renew the RSS feed. Using Wordpress, I can finish all of these within a minute by just a few clicks, and my posts can be automatically updated in search engines like Google and Yahoo. Together with powerful plugins, the reading habit of visitors can be tracked, and I can evaluate which kind of essays can attract more readers and provide values to them.
To my readers, the interface is more user-friendly. Posts are grouped into categories, and people can find what they want to read quickly. The homepage shows only 3 posts each time, while other recent posts are shown as titles at the sidebar in order to minimize the loading time and also reader’s searching time. Another important function added is the comment for each post. Readers can conveniently leave their feedback on specific posts, facilitating the discussion and interaction. I can also do improvement on my writings accordingly. So, feel free to leave your comments through the comment box.
A drawback of Wordpress is that I cannot freely control the apperance of the website, due to my limited knowledge in the software. Anyway, it helps me to save a lot of time in maintaining the website, and so I can spend more time on writing essays of higher quality. Content is always the gold of a website.
Best,
Raymond
